Below are instructions for configuring ESF Email. Configuration varies by device and operating system. CNS strongly encourages the use of Microsoft's Outlook app - both for desktop and mobile.

For the best experience using ESF Email, please download and use the Outlook email app.

1. Download the free Outlook app from Apple's App Store


2. Once the download is complete, open the Outlook app. The app will ask you to add your work/school account or personal email. Enter your ESFiD@esf.edu. Then tap “Add Account”.


3. Next enter your ESFiD password on the Office 365 sign in page and tap "Sign In".

4. If you have enrolled in DUO Multi-Factor Authentication at ESF you will receive the DUO pop-up window. Select your preferred method of authentication (Push, Code, or Call) and authenticate. Then return to the Outlook app. Outlook will automatically pass through your credentials once you authenticate with DUO.

5. Now your email is set up in Outlook. Great Job!

2. Once you have installed the Outlook app, open it.

3. Tap on "Add Account".

4. On the 'Add account' screen, enter your ESFiD@esf.edu. Then tap “Continue”.

4. On the 'Office 365' screen, enter your ESFiD@esf.edu again. Then tap “Next”.

6. Next enter your ESFiD password on the Office 365 sign in page and tap "Sign In".

7. If you have enrolled in DUO Multi-Factor Authentication at ESF you will receive the DUO pop-up window. Select your preferred method of authentication (Push, Code, or Call) and authenticate. Then return to the Outlook app. Outlook will automatically pass through your credentials once you authenticate with DUO.

8. On the 'Add another account' page tap "Maybe Later".

9. Now your email is set up in Outlook. Great Job!

Once logged in, click on the "Install Office" button in the top-right corner. This a large file, so it may take some time to download and install. 

Note for faculty/staff: If you are using an ESF-owned computer, Outlook is already installed in most cases. If it is not installed, contact the HelpDesk.

2. Launch Outlook. Outlook can be launched from Finder by double-clicking the Microsoft Outlook icon in the Applications Folder, or by typing Microsoft Outlook in Spotlight at the top right of the screen, or by clicking on the Launchpad in the dock find the Microsoft Outlook icon and click it to launch it. 

3. Next click "Get Started" and then "Sign In". 

4. Enter your ESFiD@esf.edu. Then click “Next”.

5. Next enter your ESFiD password and click "Sign In".

6. If you have enrolled in DUO Multi-Factor Authentication at ESF you will receive the DUO pop-up window. Select your preferred method of authentication (Push, Code, or Call) and authenticate.

7. Next click "Done" and "Start Using Outlook"

8. Finally click the blue button to add your ESF email account. 

9. 9. Now your email is set up in Outlook. Great Job! Click "Personalize Now" to continue to your mailbox and personalize its visual appearance.

2. Type "Outlook" in the "Type here to search box" at the bottom-left of your screen, then click on the app to open it.

3. Enter your ESFiD@esf.edu and click "Connect".

4. Next enter your ESFiD password and click "Sign In".

5. If you have enrolled in DUO Multi-Factor Authentication at ESF you will receive the DUO pop-up window. Select your preferred method of authentication (Push, Code, or Call) and authenticate.

6. If asked to "Allow my organization to manage my device" please deselect the check box, then click "No, sign into this app only". 

7. Verfiy your Identity by clicking either "Text" or "Call", then either input the provided 6 digit code via text on the proceeding window or follow the prompts on the phone if you selected Call. 

8. Now your ESF email account is successfully added. Deselect the checkbox “Set up Outlook Mobile on my phone, too” at the bottom right of the window, then click “Done”.

9. Now your email is set up in Outlook. Great Job!

  • Pop-up blockers or incorrectly altered browser security settings may cause this page to load improperly.
  • This link will allow login for students, but will redirect you to the Microsoft Outlook 365 experience. You can skip this intermediary step by proceeding directly to https://portal.office.com, logging in with your ESFiD credentials, and using the Outlook app there.
