Public service announcements:
1) All public PCs at ESF require users to login using their ESFiD username and password; when asked, enter this information to gain access to public computing resources at ESF.
2) New campus procedures require lab users to wipe clean their workstation before each use in an effort to mitigate COVID-19 spread. Please allow yourself a few minutes before and after each class/lab session to properly clean and prepare your workstation.
3) These PCs are periodically cleaned and are not suitable for storing non-volatile data. You are encouraged to use cloud storage options to save your work and transfer it from the lab PC when done processing. Each student and faculty members also as 10GB of network storage, located in your H-drive. It is strongly encouraged you do not use that storage space for larger GIS or CAD projects.
*Floppy Disks, Zip disks and even DVD-ROM, are very old technology with some serious reliability and capacity issues. As a result, PC manufacturers have left these storage options off PCs altogether. As new PCs are purchased for the ESF Computing Center, they will not come with the ability to use media of these types. USB thumb-drives (or hard drives) or network storage will be the only way to save your work, and take it with you, from these PCs.
